The Workout

What is a Boxica class like?

We’ll tell you what it’s not like – another dull cardio session. We know there are better ways to get your heart going than jumping on a treadmill – fitness doesn’t have to be boring. You can punch your way to a healthy heart. We combine boxing and strength training in an uplifting atmosphere that will have you feeling amped up and ready to smash your targets. You’ll do ten action packed rounds, five rounds on the bags and five rounds on the floor doing a combination of strength and cardio exercises. The beats and adrenaline will be pumping.

Can non-boxers come to classes?

Boxica is for anyone who wants to take control of their fitness and get maximum results, Boxica offers all of the benefits of boxing without having to step into the ring or take a hit. Even if you have never put on a pair of boxing gloves before, if you want to join a community that works hard and plays harder – Boxica is for you.

Do I need to be fit to join the class?

No – we guarantee results wherever you are on your fitness journey as long as you’re ready to sweat and work hard. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned pro, our bag and strength routines help you work up a sweat and will get you closer to your fitness goals.

Is there are beginner’s class?

We don’t need a separate beginner’s class because anyone can attend any of our classes. Our workouts are accessible and scalable. This means, if you are working as hard as you can, you are working hard enough. Punches and combinations can be adapted to work for wherever you are at right now.

Do you have female only classes?

We’re all about girl power. If you want to work out with like-minded strong women, get in touch with us and we can let you know when our ladies-only classes are happening.

Do I need my own gloves and wraps?

We provide gloves and wraps. However, if you would prefer to use your own, that’s okay too.

Do you offer private classes for groups?

Our team of experienced trainers is available for private and corporate sessions. For more information, contact us.

The Studio

Where’s the studio?

You can find us in the Hive Building, Studio City – close to Studio One Hotel.

Do you have showers?

Yes, we have showers, so you can cool down, get clean and freshen up before leaving.

Do you have lockers?

Lockers are available so you can leave the day behind and take only what you need onto the studio floor.

Do I need to bring my own water?

Chilled, filtered water is available at the studio. Simply bring your own bottle, fill up and get hydrated.

Do you sell any merchandise?

We stock a range of t-shirts, gloves and wraps. Wear our merch loud and proud and let people know you are part of the Boxica fam.

Is food available at the studio?

Not right now – we’ll let you know if we decide to introduce a range of healthy snacks at a later date.

Do you have parking?

Yes, there is ample basement parking spaces under the building. To access the basement parking use the code 0010#.

The Classes

Do I need to create an account to sign up for classes?

Yes, to unleash all of the awesome benefits of Boxica, we do ask you to create an account. However, it’s super easy, and you’ll be up and running in minutes.

Do I have to buy a membership or block of classes?

No, you have the option to pay as you go or sign up for a longer commitment. The choice is yours!

Do you offer monthly memberships?

Yes, we offer a range of options. So whether you want to pay per class, sign up for a full month or select a package of classes, we’ve got an option that will work for you.

Can I pay as I go?

Yes, absolutely. We know some people like to mix it up, so if you’re a littl­e commitment-shy, pay for classes only as you use them.

I’m on a waitlist for a class – what does that mean?

Spaces in our classes fill up fast, and we never fill a class overcapacity. If you just miss out on securing your spot, you will be added to the class’ waitlist. If someone drops out or can’t make it, we will let you know so you can come to class at your preferred time.

When should I arrive for classes?

The perfect workout takes a little preparation. We recommend arriving ten minutes before class so you can get into your wraps and glove up, ready to smash the bag once class starts.

What do I do when I arrive at the studio?

Swing by reception and say hello! We’ll sign you in and ensure you’ve got any gear you need.

What should I do if I’m running late?

If you don’t think you’re going to make it, give us a call and let us know. We may be able to fit you into another class. Unfortunately, we don’t let people join a class more than five minutes into it.

Can I cancel after scheduling a class?

We understand that life happens and can get in the way of the best-laid plans. If you know you can’t make it to class, simply go to the My Classes tab and cancel the class. We ask you do this before 5PM on the day prior to class, just so we can let someone on our waitlist know your spot is available. If you don’t show up for a class or don’t cancel by 5PM on the day before, you will be charged for that reservation.

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in. Whether you prefer formfitting or loose, make sure whatever you wear lets you float like a butterfly so you can sting like a bee.

What shoes should I wear?

It’s all about the comfort again, but we strongly recommend training shoes with adequate grip.

Do I need special equipment?

There’s no requirement for expensive equipment. All we ask if that you come to Boxica with an open mind and a willingness to try something new. You bring the determination and grit, and we’ll do the rest.

Boxing Questions

What are the benefits of boxing?

Boxers are some of the fittest athletes out there. They enjoy enhanced cardiovascular health, improved total body strength, better hand-eye coordination, decreased stress and improved body composition. Boxica classes offer all the benefits of boxing without having to take a punch:

Is boxing good for weight loss?

You can burn anywhere from 600 to 1000 calories per class, using a heart-pumping combination of punches and body-conditioning exercises. Every part of the class will help you burn calories and shed body fat.

Will boxing make me too muscular?

It takes more than boxing to build bulk. However, if you are looking to improve your strength and tone, boxing is a great way to turn you into an effective, lean, mean fighting machine.

Is boxing good for you?

Boxing is great for you. It offers a total body workout, making it fun and efficient. Boxica classes offer a cardiovascular workout designed for physical fitness and performance. You’ll also work that heart, meaning it will be better-equipped to pump more life into your muscles.

Why should I choose boxing?

Boxing requires strength, speed, agility, hand-eye coordination, endurance, nerve and power. Anyone can take a class and, with hard work and consistency, can hone the athletic skills of a boxer without having to step foot in the ring.

Can I take a class if I’m pregnant?

There’s no reason not to. However, we advise you do so only after consulting your physician.

Can I take a class if I’m injured?

Before working an inury, check in with your physician to make sure you’re not hurting more than helping.

Can I take a class if I’m not feeling well?

If you’re feeling under the weather, we recommend getting plenty of rest and coming back when you’re fighting fit. Your body will thank you for it and you will be better able to give the class your all.
